Tracking iso. overnight storms before the next heat wave

TONIGHT: Isolated showers and storms remain possible overnight with heavy downpours and lightning being the main threats. the majority of these storms remain north of I-70. Lows cool to the mid-70s.

TOMORROW: Saturday welcomes scattered chances of afternoon showers and storms lasting throughout the overnight hours. These storms remain very hit or miss and short-lived. highs warm into the lower 90s while the heat index increases up to 102 degrees.

EXTENDED: Sunday welcomes mostly sunny skies as a high pressure dome moves in overhead. Highs increase into the lower 90s as the heat index surges up to 105 degrees prompting an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day lasting until Tuesday afternoon. Monday and Tuesday could see highs into the mid-90s with the heat index climbing up to 108 degrees. The long spell of heat ends Wednesday with increasing chances of showers and storms. An abrupt cool down is expected into the second half of the week with highs into the lower 80s.
