Tracking slight relief from the heat

TODAY: Heat remains hazardous for much of the area, especially along and south of I-70, where a triple-digit feels-like is possible. Clouds and rain chances further north will shave off a few degrees, but the afternoon is overwhelmingly dry, hot, and humid.

TONIGHT: Isolated to scattered storms will develop around the dinner hour and into the early evening. This activity dies down overnight as temperatures remain warm in the mid-70s.

EXTENDED: Most of Saturday is dry and hot, with a heat index between 100 and 103 degrees. Another round of scattered showers and storms develops across the region in the afternoon and evening, but not in time to stop the heat. Rain chances drop by Sunday as heat begins to win out areawide.
