Tracking heat and humidity with a little chance of rain this weekend

TODAY: It's the same story for today as it was yesterday, more heat and humidity. This heat is still dangerous, with feels like temperatures between 104 and 107 today. Remain hydrated and if you can help it, don't stay outside for long periods of time. We're going to remain sunny for most of today as well, so keep the SPF handy.  For the latest on this heat wave, read our online ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day Blog.

TONIGHT: Tonight we get a little break from the high temperatures, with overnight lows in the mid 70s. Winds will continue from the south, it will be a calm, partly cloudy night.

EXTENDED: By the time we reach Thursday, we start to see some relief on the horizon. We drop the Weather Alert Day for Friday and Saturday as heat index values look to calm down. This is due to an approaching cold front from the northwest that could bring some rain chances Thursday evening continuing into Friday. While this won't cool us off too much, feels like temperatures will be pushed farther down into the upper 90s and lower 100s, some relief is better than none. Those days will be numbered though, as heat looks to make a comeback to our area beginning Sunday. The beginning of next week looks to remain under more ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days as heat index values climb back up to 105.
