Tracking dangerous heat the rest of this week

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and muggy with lows in the lower 70s.

TOMORROW: Dangerously hot with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-90s. Heat index values approaching 105 degrees.

EXTENDED: Showers and storms continue to dissipate this afternoon as the frontal boundary continues to lift north and lower level winds decrease tonight. High pressure continues to inch north the next few days, allowing for more sunshine and higher dew points to push the heat index to around 105 through the next few days. The upper ridge breaks down a bit by the end of the week as a disturbance rolls by on Friday, bringing a chance for rain and cooler temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. If the high pressure center stalls, we may be in line for rain chances over the weekend. If it pushes slightly back north, we could be in for more dangerous heat from the weekend into early next week as highs could reach the low to mid-90s with a heat index around 100-105.
