Tracking a few showers and storms through Friday, heat ramping up this weekend

TONIGHT: A few showers and storms possible with mostly cloudy skies. Lows in the lower 70s.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny and humid with highs in the mid-80s. A few showers and storms possible during the day with storms possible north of I-70 late Friday night.

EXTENDED: A warm front lifts back north tomorrow, potentially bringing warmer temperatures to the southern half of the area south of I-70 during the day. Farther north, highs remain in the 80s. A few showers and storms are possible in an isolated nature, but we could see some development across northern Missouri late Friday night into Saturday morning that could spill into the northern half of Mid-Missouri to start the weekend. That would quickly dissipate, allowing hotter temperatures to ramp up with humidity making temperatures feel like around 105. The aforementioned front will be settled along the Missouri/Iowa border for the weekend, keeping rain chances mainly north of us. The Weather Alert Day goes into effect Saturday and lasts through next Friday as stubborn high pressure stays settled to our south. Heat index values could range between 105-110 degrees.
