Mizzou adds former Mississippi State pitcher to transfer portal class

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Baseball is prioritizing SEC talent in the transfer portal.

On Friday, head coach Kerrick Jackson and his staff received a pledge from Mississippi State transfer Jacob Pruitt, who represents the fourth SEC player to commit to the Tigers this offseason.

The 6-foot-1, right-handed pitcher appeared in nine games (two starts) for the Bulldogs this year. Pruitt pitched 18.2 innings during that span, posting a 7.23 ERA and striking out 23 batters. He also brings NCAA Regional experience to the program, tossing two innings out of the bullpen with four strikeouts against Florida State in postseason play.

Before taking his talents to Mississippi State, Pruitt spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Indiana State. During his final season with the Sycamores, the Indiana native recorded a 3.02 ERA over 41.2 innings pitched and boasted a 57:23 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Pruitt is the sixth player and second pitcher to pledge to Mizzou's 2025 transfer portal class. He joins Texas outfielder Donovan Jordan, South Carolina designated hitter Jase Woita, Wichita State shortstop Kam Durnin, Texas A&M utility player Jamal George, and Nova Southeastern pitcher Keyler Gonzalez as the team's transfer portal additions.
