Tracking sunshine and low humidity today
THIS MORNING: Fog is possible near waterways and in low-lying areas, though this burns away quickly by early morning. Temperatures start in the mid-60s and warm to the upper 70s before noon.
TODAY: Highs climb to the mid-to-upper 80s with lower humidity keeping the heat index in check.
EXTENDED: High pressure holds overhead for the next several days, but eventually begins to work to the east/southeast by late in the week, allowing winds to shift back to the south. That southerly breeze will bring increased humidity by Thursday and Friday, pushing dew points into the upper 60s to around 70. Heat index values on Thursday will be in the low 90s and into the upper 90s to near 100 by Friday and the weekend. There could be a few disturbances that produce afternoon storms on Saturday and Sunday, but a washout isn't expected. Next week, a cold front stalls over the region, increasing chances for rain and storms through midweek.
