Tracking scattered storms tonight into Monday

TONIGHT: Scattered storms late, mostly cloudy. A few storms could produce heavy rain and gusty winds. Lows near 70.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with scattered storms. Highs in the mid-upper 80s with a heat index in the low 90s.

EXTENDED: A cluster of strong thunderstorms is pressing through southwest Missouri this afternoon, allowing our area to warm back up into the 80s to end the day. Southern portions of Mid-Missouri received more than 3" of rain overnight, with another complex of storms developing to our northwest late tonight that could bring isolated strong winds and heavy rain after midnight. Scattered storms are possible on Monday, but any severe threat looks low. High pressure begins to build in for most of the week again, eliminating rain chances and bringing highs back up into the mid-upper 80s. As we head into the Fourth of July weekend, temperatures rise to near 90 with a heat index in the mid-upper 90s on Friday and Saturday, and a chance for a few storms on Sunday.
