Mizzou Men’s Basketball reveals 2025-26 season opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Men's Basketball has unveiled the opponent, date and location of its upcoming season debut.

The Tigers announced that the team will be traveling to Washington D.C. to face Howard University on Nov. 3 to begin the 2025-26 campaign. The game's tipoff time is still to be determined.

MU's visit to our nation's capital will represent just the second time in program history that the Tigers will face the Bison on the basketball court. The first-ever meeting between the two teams was last season's home opener when Howard made the trip to Mizzou Arena on Nov. 8, 2024. MU earned a 77-62 win in last year's contest.

Head Coach Dennis Gates and his team are striving to build on last season's success. Mizzou returned to the NCAA Tournament during the 2024-25 campaign as a No. 6 seed, reached the 10-win threshold in SEC play for just the fourth time in program history and posted its second-best overall record of the last decade.

Mizzou will reveal the remainder of its non-conference and SEC schedules at a later date.
