PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A derailed train in Pettis County is caused issues for train traffic all weekend in Missouri.
According to Amanda Treiber, a spokesperson with Union Pacific, the train derailed late Friday night. The derailment is under investigation.
Amtrak traffic was stopped all day Saturday due to the derailment. Treiber said passengers were bussed.
Normal Amtrack traffic is expected to resume by the end of the day Sunday. Normal freight traffic is expected to start back up at around 1 Sunday afternoon.
According to a Pettis County alert, an unaffected part of the train was blocking part of Highway 50 on the west side of Smithton. It is unclear if Highway 50 remains blocked Sunday.
