Tracking a risk of severe storms tonight, flooding and more storms this weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: Friday is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for the threat of severe storms that could produce hail and high winds. Highs reach the low 80s ahead of a cold front; this front will support the development of scattered severe storms through the evening hours.

TONIGHT: The severe threat will wane overnight, but the rain will continue. Temperatures fall into the 50s by sunrise.

EXTENDED: The cold front will stall over the area this weekend, leading to multiple rounds of rain throughout Saturday. On Easter Sunday, the front lifts north and brings another chance for isolated or scattered severe storms to the region. All severe hazards could be possible on Easter Sunday. Regardless, egg hunts look like an indoor activity this year. Monday will see a brief break from rain, but much of next week looks wet again. Flooding remains a high concern this weekend with 2 to 4 inches of rain expected.
