Man accused of shooting at woman in Maries County

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Dixon, Missouri, man was charged Tuesday with shooting at a woman off a Maries County road.

Ricky L. Veasman was charged with first-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, illegal gun possession, armed criminal action, resisting arrest and felony drug possession.

A woman told Maries County deputies on Sunday afternoon that Veasman drove up to her location, pulled out a gun demanding that she take something off the social media platform Facebook, then shot at the ground and her feet, according to a probable cause statement. A deputy found a .40-caliber handgun nearby.

Authorities found Veasman in a nearby field but he went into the woods and refused to listen to commands after he saw law enforcement, the statement says. He was later arrested without incident but investigators say they found methamphetamine, fentanyl and a pipe.

An initial court appearance was held Tuesday morning.
