Mizzou hoops slips one spot in the latest AP poll, after a split week
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Week 17 of the college basketball season was a tale of two different kind of games for Tiger men's hoops. In the first game, Mizzou stomped South Carolina by 30 points. But, head coach Dennis Gates and company followed that up with a heartbreaking loss in overtime at Vanderbilt on Saturday.
After that split week of action, MU dropped one spot in the latest AP Poll, coming in at No. 15 in the nation. In the latest coaches poll, Gates and company fell three spots to No. 19 in the land.
Mizzou has now spent seven-straight weeks in the Top-25.
Heading into the final week of the regular-season, Mizzou is in must-win territory. The team's seeding in the upcoming SEC Tournament is no longer in their hands, but any chance at gaining the coveted double-bye will hinge on the Tigers winning out against Oklahoma and No. 19 Kentucky.
If Gates' team can do that, their chance of being one of the top-four teams in the conference will come down to either Alabama, Tennessee or Florida losing their last two games of the regular-season slate.
