CLEARWATER, Fla. (KMIZ)

No. 15 Mizzou Softball is off to a flawless start to its 2025 campaign.

The Tigers (2-0) earned wins over Marshall and No. 20 Northwestern in its first two games of the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic. MU cruised past the Thundering Herd 9-1 in five innings and shut out the Wildcats 3-0 at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Florida.

Mizzou scored at least one run in four of its five frames against Marshall. Abby Hay posted a two-double, four-RBI performance, and Julia Crenshaw blasted a walk-off, run-rule solo home run to clinch a season-opening victory. Marissa McCann tossed five innings in the circle and allowed just one run on five hits with three strikeouts.

Then, head coach Larissa Anderson's team capitalized on a dominant effort from Cierra Harrison to earn its first win over a ranked opponent this year. Harrison pitched a complete game shutout, giving up just three hits and striking out six batters over seven innings. Crenshaw and Stefania Abruscato each delivered RBI singles in the contest.

Up next - the Tigers will face two more opponents on Saturday, Feb. 8 at its season-opening tournament, starting with NCAA Super Regional rematch with Duke at 12 p.m.
