No. 11 Mizzou gymnastics tops No. 6 Kentucky

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No. 11 Mizzou gymnastics posted its best performance of the season in the team's first meet inside the Hearnes Center this 2025 season, on Sunday. The Tigers toppled No. 6 Kentucky by a 197.200-196.800 margin to improve to 6-2 on the season.

In the victory over the cats, six gymnasts scored 9.900's or better en route to MU's best team total of the 2025 campaign.

Senior Jocelyn Moore notched the highest vault score for head coach Shannon Welker and company on Sunday, grabbing a 9.900, which was good enough to tie for the event title. She also made her presence known on the floor, tying for the event title and posting a 9.925 on the event as the anchor in the final rotation of the meet.

Fellow senior Amari Celestine captured the event title on the uneven bars with a 9.900 and also claimed a share of the floor title with her teammate, Moore.

One meet after scoring the first perfect 10.000 of the 2025 NCAA gymnastics season, graduate gymnast Helen Hu came close again, on Sunday night. The Illinois-native posted a 9.975 in her big return to the Hearnes Center, as she captured the beam title.

Mizzou's win was led by its veterans, but one newcomer made her debut, as well. Freshman Olivia Kelly performed on both bars and beam for the first time, scoring a 9.900 in the ladder. She is the first Tiger freshman to ever reach that threshold.

Up next - Mizzou will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a matchup with the regining national champions. No. 11 MU and No. 2 LSU will face off on Friday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
