Box of puppies dropped off at Central Missouri Humane Society in the cold

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A box of puppies was dropped off at the Central Missouri Humane Society on Monday evening, according to a Facebook post from the group.
The post features a photo of four puppies in a Scott toilet paper box. The caption states that someone had pulled behind a Humane Society employee's car, dropped the box and left.
"We are pleading with people to not dump animals, especially in these extreme conditions. Had we not found these puppies right away, they probably would not have made it in the 15° weather," the Facebook post states.
According to the post, the puppies will be adoptable in about a week unless the owner comes back to officially surrender them.
The post has garnered a lot of attention. As of 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, the post has around 1,400 reactions, almost 200 comments and 365 shares.
According to another Facebook post from the Humane Society on Jan. 15, the shelter has seen an unusually high number of dogs entering the shelter. However, the number of adoptions has slowed.
