Former Tipton prison worker charged with having sex with inmate

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A former corrections worker at the prison in Tipton was charged Monday with having sex with an inmate.

Jessica D. Baird, is accused of having sex with a male prisoner on Oct. 21, 2024, when she worked at Tipton Correctional Center, according to a probable cause statement. The statement did not say what job she held but said the act happened while she was on duty and assigned to the prisoner's housing unit.

The prisoner admitted on a recording to having sex with Baird and Baird confirmed the story to investigators, according to the statement. The acts happened in an employee restroom, the prisoner allegedly said.

Baird was not in Moniteau County's custody Tuesday morning. A warrant has been issued for her arrest with a $1,000 cash-only bond.
