Arraignment set for woman accused in Howard County DWI crash
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A criminal summons was issued Thursday for a woman who was accused of drunkenly causing a crash that injured multiple people in April.
Shelby Thompson was charged in Howard County with three counts of DWI causing serious physical injury, a count of DWI causing injury and two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. An arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Court documents say troopers were called to a crash on April 16 on Highway 5 north of County Road 336 that involved a Chevrolet truck and a Lexus RX300. Four people were injured in the crash, court documents say. Thompson was the driver of the Lexus and reportedly smelled like alcohol.
Troopers wrote that Thompson gave a breath test and her blood alcohol content was .146, nearly twice the legal limit to drive. Thompson allegedly told troopers that she blacked out.
Two of her children were in her vehicle at the time of the crash, the statement says.
