Two people hurt after driver loses control on Highway 54

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people were hurt after a crash in Jefferson City on Wednesday night.

According to a crash report from Jefferson City Police, the Communication Center begin getting calls about a crash on eastbound Highway 54 north of the MO 179 and Route B overpass.

Police said the driver of a green 2005 Ford Mustang lost control and slid off the road, hitting a rock embankment.

The crash report says the front of the car hit the embankment first before it continued spinning until the back also hit the rock embankment.

One person was thrown from the car, it is unclear if anyone was wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.

Jefferson City police said the driver and passenger were taken to a Columbia hospital for their injuries.

Traffic was limited to one lane for about an hour while members of the Traffic Unit investigated the crash.
