Three people shot in Northeast Columbia Saturday night
COLUMBIA, Mo.(KMIZ)
Three people were shot in Northeast Columbia on Clark Lane Saturday night, according to CPD spokeswoman Jenny Hopper.
According to Hopper, police were called to the 4800 block of Clark Ln. at 8:19 for reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to Hopper. A third person was transported in a personal vehicle to a hospital.
All three of the victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Hopper said.
Details about the age or genders of the victims was not available immediately.
A suspect is not in custody.
An ABC News reporter on scene saw a portion of 'The Greens at Columbia' apartment complex blocked off with crime scene tape. Nearly a dozen Columbia Police Department vehicles and a Columbia Fire Department truck were also on scene.
Visible damage was seen on a red Hyundai vehicle as it was towed away from the scene.
Havylnn Hinson, a witness, described hearing multiple gunshots and people screaming as she and her husband arrived home from grocery shopping.
"We were getting things out of our trunk and then we heard five gun shots to which we immediately ran behind the crash, got to the ground. At that time there were screams and people running on the left side of the greens here,"Â Hinson said.
Hinson said she saw two victims being transported from the scene by ambulance. The incident struck a personal chord for her, as she has lost a family member to gun violence in Columbia.
"I actually had a cousin that passed away from gun violence here in Columbia. So it's really terrifying to kind of experience something that he might have experienced in that time when he lost his life,"Â Hinson said.
The scene was cleared around 10:30 p.m.
