COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A temporary power outage is planned for Monday at the Eighth and Walnut Parking Garage in Downtown Columbia.

A Friday press release from the city says a contractor will replace the transformer at the garage to give the garage electrical upgrades. The release says the upgrades are part of the elevator maintenance that’s been ongoing since September.

The city said earlier this week in a press release that work on the southeast elevator done, but work continues on the southwest elevator.

The release says while the transformer is being replaced, elevators and lights will be out of service and “the garage may be extremely dark, especially as work extends into the evening.” Stairwell lights, gate arms, pay station and security cameras will not be impacted, the release says.

The release did not say what time crews would begin replacing the transformer. Work may be completed the same day, but could continue on Tuesday, the release says.
