COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man suffered serious injuries when his moped hit a vehicle on West Broadway.

Police say the 60-year-old man, who was not named in a news release, was heading westbound when he changed lanes and hit a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old woman from Columbia. The collision threw the man from the moped and he was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Columbia Police Department said.

He was not wearing a helmet.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was not hurt.

The crash happened at about 2 p.m. and led to the road being temporarily closed at Heather Lane.
