Nevada voted to make abortion a constitutional right. What to know about key ballot measures

Associated Press

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A ballot question to enshrine Nevada’s abortion rights in the state constitution has passed. Voters must also approve the ballot question in 2026 in order to amend the state constitution. Although a 1990 state law makes abortion available up to viability, supporters in Nevada and elsewhere have been fighting to strengthen abortion access since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Nevada voters rejected open primaries and ranked choice voting in general elections, and passed a measure to remove slavery as a criminal punishment from the state constitution. Voters must also approve the ballot question in 2026 in order to amend the state constitution.
