Styles Carter, 18, of Columbia, was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not been scheduled.
According to a probable cause statement, police were called to the 5000 block of Clark Lane at 1:24 a.m. July 31. The caller alleged they were robbed about 25 minutes before, the statement says.
The victim told police that they were with a friend when they recognized Carter, the statement says. Another male with Carter allegedly had a gun in their waistband, the statement. Carter and the male were in a 2013 Ford Fusion during the robbery, court documents claim.
Court documents claim Carter told the other male to grab his gun and the male pointed it at the victims. Carter then allegedly demanded money, the statement says. The victims handed over $400, court documents say.
Carter and the other male then drove off, the statement says. One of the victims was able to provide Carter’s Instagram handle, but claimed Carter blocked their account after the incident, court documents claim.
A second probable cause statement was attached to the court case, claiming that Carter and another male forced their way into a home on May 26 and tried to steal a phone.
