Two Mizzou volleyball standouts earn conference honors

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Southeastern Conference announced that two Mizzou volleyball standouts earned weekly conference honors for the second time this season, on Monday, as rightside hitter Jordan Iliff and Marina Crownover were recognized by the league.

Iliff was named the SEC Player of the Week and the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Crownover was tabbed the SEC Setter of the Week. The duo's effort helped the Tigers earn a 3-0 start to the team's four-game homestand.

It's the second time in 2024 that the duo was awarded honors together.

Iliff, a St. Louis native, led the offensive charge for Mizzou and is the first Tiger player to earn Player of the Week honors since Kylie Deberg did it in 2020. Iliff tallied 52 total kills on a .438 hitting percentage, along with 25 digs and nine service aces. She has posted 14 or more kills in each of her last three matches.

She reached a career milestone in MU's sweep against Alabama, on Friday night. In a 17-kill effort, Iliff also notched her 1,000th-career kill and 100th-career ace. Iliff then followed up that outing with 21 kills and a career-best 21 digs in the five-set, thrilling win over Tennessee on Sunday. That performance marked her eighth double-double of the season and third 20-plus kill match of the year, as well.

Crownover was the facilitator for all of that production.

She averaged nearly 12 assists per set in three games, compiling 130 assists and 20 digs, as Mizzou hit .353 over the past week. Crownover has posted 30 or more assists in each of the Tigers' last three matches.

The redshirt sophomore's best outing the week came against Tennessee, when she recorded 56 assists to go with seven digs and a service ace. Those 56 assists were second-most this season and marks the third time in 2024 that she has exceeded 50 assists.

The SEC weekly honor is the second of Crownover's career.

Up next - Mizzou will conclude its four-match homestand with a game against Mississippi State on Sunday, Oct. 20. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
