KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Royals are looking forward to next season with a pronounced sense of optimism after going from a 106-loss trainwreck last year to the AL Division Series this year. Their season ended Thursday night with a 3-1 loss to the Yankees in Game 4 at Kauffman Stadium. Still, the Royals proved that they could compete, and with young talent such as Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino signed to long-term deals or under club control, they expect to be around for years to come. What could get them deeper in the playoffs? The Royals will be looking for a starter, more bullpen help and an outfield upgrade during the upcoming offseason.
