Republican JD Vance and Democrat Tim Walz went head to head for the first time as vice presidential candidates Tuesday night in a debate hosted by CBS News.

One question surrounding the debate was whether it actually matters. History shows vice presidential debates don't change the vote much. But this election is unprecedented in many ways.
