Man indicted in May Downtown Columbia shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man who was charged in relation to a May 19 shooting in Downtown Columbia is facing an additional charged after a superseding indictment was filed on Friday.
Kalvin Johnson, 21, of Columbia, was charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and stealing a gun.
An arraignment for the new set of charges -- along with a pretrial conference -- was scheduled for Monday. A jury trial is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
Two other people were charged in relation to the shooting. Tanikya Dunn, of Sikeston, was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. She posted a $25,000 bond on May 28 was later indicted on June 14. Dunn has a hearing set for 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7.
Jearlissia Jackson, of Columbia, was also charged in the shooting with accessory to first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. She had posted a $10,000 bond on June 10. A hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21.
According to previous reporting, police responded at 3 a.m. May 19 in the 10 block of South Ninth Street after a woman was shot in a vehicle. The victim had allegedly identified Jackson as being in an SUV and claimed Johnson was the shooter, court documents in previous reporting say.
A fight involving 10 people occurred before the fight and Dunn was accused of hitting someone in the head with a liquor bottle, previous reporting says.
