Traffic slows on I-70 after tractor-trailer turns over into median, driver has ‘significant injuries’

BOONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

Both passing lanes on Interstate 70 at mile marker 112 in Cooper County were closed Wednesday after a tractor-trailer turned over into the median.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote on its X page that the passing lanes were blocked as first responders worked.

The driver of the tractor-trailer had "significant injuries," according to Lt. William Johnson of the Cooper County Fire Protection District. Johnson said the crash involved just the tractor-trailer and occurred at 7:05 p.m.

Johnson later said that the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver was brought to University Hospital in Columbia.

Eastbound lanes were reopened around 10:10 p.m. after the tractor and trailer were towed. The westbound lanes reopened at 10:45 p.m. after crews cleared the road.
