Property damage reported after shots fired in West Columbia Friday night

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department confirmed Sunday afternoon shots were fired in West Columbia Friday night.

In a social media post, the department said it responded to the 1000 block of Interstate 70 Drive Southwest for a report of shots fired at 7:37 p.m. The post states footage from a nearby business shows a man shooting a firearm.

Several people were in the area at the time and multiple cars were damaged in the incident, according to the post.

An ABC 17 News reporter spoke to a man at the scene on Friday who said his girlfriend's truck was hit by a vehicle he believes was trying to drive away after shots were fired.

The investigation is on-going.
