COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man with Florida ties charged with three felonies Sunday after allegedly shooting another man in the face at a south Columbia restaurant said during his first court appearance that he had never been jailed before.

Alexis A. Gonzalez, 36, whose driver's license says he's from Orlando, was charged after the shooting late Saturday at Buffalo Wild Wings with three felonies: first-degree assault, armed criminal action and illegal gun use.

His first court appearance was held Monday afternoon.

Gonzalez is accused of shooting another patron at Buffalo Wild Wings after a server refused him alcohol because he was too drunk, according to a probable cause statement. Gonzalez allegedly left the restaurant without paying. Another patron followed Gonzalez and his girlfriend out the door while recording on a cellphone, the statement says.

A fight broke out in the parking lot but because of redaction in the statement ABC 17 News was unable to determine who Gonzalez and his girlfriend were fighting.

Gonzalez can be seen on security video going back in the restaurant and shooting a man, documents say.

Police said the man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

Gonzalez appeared in court Monday by video, wearing a jail jumpsuit. He pushed back after listening to Judge Stephanie Morrell.

"This is my first time being in jail," Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said he has worked with the police.

"I was very cooperative with the officers,” Gonzalez said.

Morrell set a bond hearing for 1 p.m. Thursday. Gonzalez's preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant on Nifong Boulevard remains closed. Restaurant spokesman Jack D'Amato said it wasn't known when the eatery and bar would reopen.
