Tracking multiple rounds of showers and storms

TODAY: Scattered showers and storms with moderate downpours and lighting continue across the region. Highs top out into the upper 70s.

TONIGHT: Rain will taper off after sunset temporarily, but an increase in our low level winds will nudge a warm front north which will instigate widespread thunderstorms across the region. This likely fires up after midnight. Storms will develop in a west to east oriented line, and lift northeast through the morning.

EXTENDED: By 7 a.m. Wednesday, widespread moderate to heavy rain will be working through our northern and eastern counties, not leaving the region until the afternoon. 1-2 inches of rain may come from this band of rainfall. Rainfall should quiet down for the afternoon, allowing us to warm into the mid-80s as we are south of the warm front. We'll be just as warm Thursday ahead of a cold front that will bring the focus of more storms, possibly some strong storms Thursday night into Friday morning. We'll have highs in the mid-80s Friday and Saturday, with generally drier conditions as well.
