Trial set to begin Tuesday for man accused of deadly stabbing in Ashland

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man accused of stabbing a man to death in 2021 is set to face a jury Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Boone County courthouse.

Robin Morales-Sanchez is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action for allegedly stabbing Moises Hernandez-Sanchez nearly a dozen times in the torso and leaving him for dead at an Ashland home in 2021.

Charges were refiled in March, Boone County prosecutors could not comment on this decision.

According to past reporting, during this investigation, Ashland officers obtained several search warrants, ultimately revealing the location of Robin Morales-Sanchez in Iola, Kansas.

Both sides are set to give opening statements on Tuesday after the jury was selected on Monday. The trial could last until Friday.
