Callaway County man killed in riding lawn mower crash

PORTLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

One man was killed on Wednesday night after a crash in Portland, Missouri involving a riding lawn mower.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, George Ward, 64 from Portland was driving a Dixie Chopper Lawn Mower along the edge of Paradise Lake at 10970 Oak Lane at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The crash report states the lawn mower started to slide downhill and flipped over into the lake trapping Ward under the lawn mower.

This is the second deadly crash with a lawn mower recently in Missouri. A Layette County man died in June after a lawn mower flipped onto the driver.
