Cole County deputy injured in Jefferson City crash

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Cole County deputy was involved in a crash on Wednesday at West Truman Boulevard and Country Club Drive in Jefferson City, according to a crash report from the Jefferson City Police Department.

ABC 17 News reached out to the Cole County Sheriff’s Office and was referred to the Jefferson City Police Department.

According to the crash report, a 2009 Chevrolet Equinox – driven by Rebecca Nichols, 33, of Columbia – was heading eastbound on Country Club Drive and drove into the path of Deputy Bailey Johnmeyer – who was heading southbound on West Truman Boulevard in their patrol vehicle, a 2023 Dodge Charger while its emergency lights and sirens were on.

The front of the Chevrolet hit the front of the Dodge, the crash report states. The Dodge then skid and hit a 2012 Honda Accord – driven by Kimberly Quirouet, 46, of Jefferson City. Quirouet had no reported injuries.

Two girls in the Chevrolet were brought to an area hospital with minor injuries, the report states. Neither were wearing safety devices, according to the report. Nichols was taken by ambulance to a Columbia hospital with minor injuries, the report states. Another passenger – Crystal Silva, 46, of Fulton – had minor injuries. Both women were not wearing seatbelts, according to the report.

Johnmeyer had moderate injuries and was brought to an area hospital by a Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, the report states. All three vehicles were totaled, according to the report.

The crash is under investigation.
