Ashland PD: Some Boone County EMS calls routed to other counties, affected calls in Ashland

ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Chief of the Ashland Police Department wrote in a Tuesday evening social media post that a number of calls to 911 and 311 were routed to other counties.

Chief Scott Young wrote that those issues affected calls involving the Ashland Police Department and recommended residents call the department directly. APD’s phone number is (573) 657-9062.

“Throughout the day of May 21st 2024, emergency services in Boone County experienced numerous issues with cell phone call routing for citizens calling 311 and 911. Many calls were routed to a dispatch center in a different county,” the post reads. “Normally this is rare, but when it happens it causes confusion and delays in the delivery of Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement services. However, today it happened frequently and caused several issues for the Ashland Police Department. I have spoken with a citizen that absolutely needed a police response and did not get one. We will be following up on that case.”

The post did not state what caused the issue or a timeline for it to be fixed.
