Mexico linen factory resumes work after weekend fire
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A factory in Mexico, Missouri, that makes commercial linens was back up and running Monday after a fire Friday night.
A worker who answered the phone at Crown Linen said the factory was operating on its normal schedule early Monday afternoon, just a few days after a fire caused what authorities deemed "serious fire damage" to one building on the property.
The call came in at about 11 p.m. Friday there was a fire at the factory and firefighters found smoke coming from a building in the 100 block of West Promenade Street, the Mexico Department of Public Safety says in a news release.
The city's street department came in to clear sidewalks and streets around the building. Part of the sidewalk and street were closed while the company moved equipment from the burned building to continue operating.
Investigators say the fire started in an area where cloth items are stored. An officer suffered minor injuries but was treated at the scene and released.
