REPORTS: Former Mizzou Tigers set to sign undrafted free agent deals
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
While several Mizzou Football alums did not hear their names called at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit, some former Tigers are now set to sign undrafted free agent deals with NFL teams. Reports say Cody Schrader, Harrison Mevis, Marcellus Johnson, Xavier Delgado and Nathaniel Peat are expected to take their talents to the National Football League.
Bleacher Report's NFL insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that Schrader is signing as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers. Schrader was a consensus All-American last season, posting 1,627 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. The SEC's leading rusher also earned First Team All-SEC honors and won the Burlsworth Trophy at the end of the 2023 campaign.
A report from PowerMizzou says Mevis is signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Carolina Panthers, following his senior season when he broke Mizzou's all-time scoring record. The Second Team All-SEC selection spent his entire career with the Tigers and drilled 86 field goals over four seasons.
Finally, The Athletic is reporting that Johnson is heading to the New York Giants and Delgado is signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Johnson spent the first four seasons of his college career at Eastern Michigan before transferring to Mizzou. He appeared in 10 games during the 2023 season. Delgado spent six years with the Tigers, making more than 50 appearances in his college career.
NFL reporter Aaron Wilson is also reporting that Peat is signing as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys, which includes a $3,000 signing bonus. The Rock Bridge alum played in 24 games over two seasons at Mizzou, recording 755 rushing yards, 147 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns in a Tiger uniform.
