Buxton, Vázquez deliver timely hits as Twins rally for 5-1 victory over Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Byron Buxton drove in the tying run in the eighth inning, Christian Vázquez drove in the go-ahead run to start off a four-run ninth, and the Twins rallied for a 5-1 victory over the Royals. Griffin Jax pitched a scoreless eighth to earn the win for Minnesota. He had earned the save on opening day. Will Smith took the loss Saturday in his Royals debut. The Royals squandered six brilliant innings from Seth Lugo, who allowed just two hits and a walk. Twins starter Joe Ryan allowed just one run on three hits and a walk while pitching into the sixth.
