One killed, four injured in Callaway County crash Sunday morning
CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
One person was killed in a crash in Callaway County early Sunday morning, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash report.
The crash happened on US Highway 63 at County Road 399 at 1:44 a.m. According to the crash report, five people were in the car.
The crash occurred as a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 19-year-old Demont Webb, went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, skidded across the road, hit a guard rail and flipped over.
A GoFundMe was started to help Webb's family with funeral expenses.
The Trailblazer came to a stop upside down in the median. The car was totaled.
Webb was pronounced dead on the scene by a Boone County medical examiner. Two passengers, 18-year-old Fiona Chanache of Jefferson City and 24-year-old Devione Hallmon of Jefferson City sustained serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to University Hospital.
19-year-old Melissa Carmichael of Columbia, who was also in the car sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital.
18-year-old Jassmine Carter of Jefferson City was in the car and sustained moderate injuries. She was the only person in the car wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
This is Troop F's first fatality of March and the ninth fatal crash in 2024.
