LOS ANGELES (AP) — One of the country’s most progressive prosecutors Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón was leading in partial results in his bid for reelection against 11 opponents. Nathan Hochman, a one-time California attorney general candidate who ran as a Republican in 2022, was closely behind him. It could be days before it is determined who advances to a runoff. Early returns showed no candidate had enough to win outright with a 50%-plus-one vote. Anything less triggers a runoff race between the top two candidates in November.
