Boston Celtics power forward Jayson Tatum announced Tuesday a gift of $1 million from the financial services company SoFi to his nonprofit. The gift will establish the SoFi Generational Wealth Fund at the Jayson Tatum Foundation. The fund will help people in Tatum’s hometown of St. Louis afford the down payments on purchasing new homes. With his team leading the Eastern Conference and him set to start in the upcoming All-Star Game, Tatum said it seemed like the perfect time to draw attention to financial literacy and generational wealth. SoFi will contribute the funds over three to five years and the foundation will determine how to select participants.
