Super Bowl visitors consider bets for big game

Many Super Bowl attendees are putting some cash on the line for this year's game.
The American Gaming Association estimates that Americans will put more than $23 billion up in sports bets on the game. That survey reflects a 44% increase from last year's wagering.
While Missourians are still not allowed to legally place bets on sports online, Kansas residents that ABC 17 News spoke with on Friday in Las Vegas are already familiar with the process. David Lipe, owner of Sharky's Bar and Grill in Fort Scott, Kansas, said the betting has been a boon.
"The [casino] just down the road from our business has a sports book and I love it, it's great," Lipe said.
Mark Poese of Stewartsville, Missouri, said he planned on making a $1,000 bet on the Chiefs to win the game.
"I got a bad taste in my mouth when I was younger, and really couldn't afford to do it and so I never did," Poese said of betting. "But now that we're here, and we can afford it, we throw a little bit of money at it just to have fun, but you know who's gonna bet against Patrick? It's not me."
Dennis Carter -- a Baltimore Ravens fan who paid for a trip to Las Vegas before the Ravens lost to the Chiefs in the AFC championship game -- said he would avoid the sports books on Sunday.
"I'm not a gambler," Carter said. "I appreciate the value of a dollar to my household."
FanDuel CEO Amy Howe told Fox News on Friday that Taylor Swift's presence within the NFL and Chiefs have led to a doubling of prop bets on her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
