Man found guilty of Boone County rape to be sentenced in March

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man who was found guilty on Thursday of first-degree rape will be sentenced in March.

William Thomas Jr., 49, was found guilty of raping a disabled girl in 2017. He will be sentenced at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 19 at the Boone County Courthouse. He is currently being held at the Boone County Jail. The jury took about five hours to reach the verdict on Thursday, according to Casenet.

The girl’s mother was accused of exchanging her daughter to have sex with two men at a Columbia motel in exchange for cocaine, according to previous reporting. On Sept. 22, the mother was found guilty of second-degree child sex trafficking, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, child abuse and first-degree accessory to rape. The mother was sentenced to 64 years in prison on Dec. 7.
