Man pleads guilty in April 2023 Jefferson City shooting case
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Jefferson City man pleaded guilty to a pair of felonies on Thursday and was sentenced to four years in prison in relation to a nonfatal shooting from last year.
Timothy Benson, 19, pleaded guilty to unlawful gun possession and tampering with evidence. He was previously charged with accessory to armed criminal action, illegal gun possession, two counts of armed criminal action and evidence tampering.
According to previous reporting, Benson shot his girlfriend in the head on April 11 in the 100 block of Bourbon Street. The shooting happened after Benson and the victim argued about her cheating on him, according to a probable cause statement. The victim said she wanted to kill herself, a witness said, according to the statement.
