Man accused of sexually assaulting another person at gunpoint

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man has been charged with a pair of felonies after he was accused of sexually assaulting another person at gunpoint in December.

Andrew Nicholas Thompson, 28, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and unlawful use of a weapon. He was booked into the Boone County Jail at 7:36 p.m. Dec. 9 and was released the same day after posting a $6,500 bond the same day, according to jail records. An initial court appearance is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10.

According to a heavily redacted probable cause statement, the victim told law enforcement that Thompson invited them to smoke in his room at the Welcome Inn. The statement says the victim could describe elements of Thompson’s room.

The victim had allegedly told law enforcement that Thompson pulled out a gun before sexually assaulting them. A Columbia police officer allegedly saw tears in their clothes. Police were able to get information for Thompson’s room, as well as his driver’s license number.

Thompson allegedly told law enforcement to check receipt information to show he was in St. Louis at the time of the incident. Police claim that a receipt was dated about an hour and thirty minutes before the assault occurred. Police found the gun and Thompson denied showing it to the victim, the statement says.
