Crashes, injuries, fatalities down from last year on Missouri roads over Christmas weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two fatalities were reported on Missouri roads over Christmas weekend, according to a Tuesday press release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

MSHP began counting data from 6 p.m. Friday through 11:59 p.m. Monday. Troopers investigated 124 crashes, including 71 injuries and 18 DWI arrests, the release states. According to the release, last year troopers investigated 306 crashes, three fatalities, 84 people injured and 52 arrested for DWI.

This year, one death occurred in the Springfield area, while another occurred in Willow Springs, the release states.

According to data from MSHP’s website, Troop F – which includes much of Mid-Missouri – investigated six crashes during that time period. Seven injuries were reported, six arrests were made by troopers, three of which were on suspicion of DWI. Most of those numbers are down from 2022. Last year, Troop F investigated 27 crashes, seven injuries, two fatalities and four DWI arrests.
