Tracking a warm and breezy Thursday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and not as cold with lows in the upper 30s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and windy with southwest wind gusts up to 30 mph. Highs in the low to mid-60s.

EXTENDED: Tonight, we stay above freezing with winds remaining from the south, keeping temperatures in the upper 30s. Tomorrow is much warmer and breezy with southwest wind gusts between 25-30 mph, sending highs into the low to mid-60s for the afternoon. Clouds roll in tomorrow night and Friday ahead of low pressure that will drag a cold front through the area between Friday and the weekend. We still get up to about 60 on Friday, but rain returns by late afternoon. Light to moderate showers continue into Saturday, with perhaps a few rumbles of thunder across southeast Missouri. Colder air rushes in on the back side of this system, but the latest forecast guidance suggests that precipitation will outrun the colder temperatures, meaning wintry weather is less likely. That said, flurries are possible north of I-70 into Saturday evening as clouds wrap around low pressure to our northeast. No accumulation or impacts will be expected. Weekend rain amounts will be around 0.25" to 0.5". Sunday is colder with highs near 40, but sunshine returns next week as we become more seasonable with highs in the upper 40s.
