Tracking a few showers tonight, cold and blustery Tuesday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with light rain late, tapering off before daybreak. Lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-40s. Gusty northwest winds keep wind chills in the 30s all day.

EXTENDED: Another disturbance moving across Mid-Missouri tonight will bring a chance for showers from the north by around 9:00 p.m., pushing east before daybreak. Measurable rain is limited, but clouds stick around into Tuesday along with strong northwest winds. Wind gusts could get up to 25 mph, bringing the wind chill down into the 30s for much of the day. Clouds gradually clear tomorrow night and winds die down, allowing low temperatures to dip into the low to mid-20s. More sunshine is expected on Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures going from about 50 on Wednesday afternoon to the low 60s Thursday thanks to upper high pressure forcing the jet stream to our north. At the end of the week, we'll be tracking a stronger, deeper low pressure system that will bring rain to the area Friday afternoon. Showers continue through Friday night, with cold air pushing in from the northwest on the back side of the system by Saturday morning. That cold air could turn over lingering precipitation to light snow on Saturday, but temperatures don't quite look cold enough for impacts just yet.
