COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man is suspected of driving while intoxicated after being badly injured in a crash Saturday night in Cole County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Gordon Barnes, 29, was driving southbound on Zion Road when he failed to navigate a curve. He then drove off the right side of the road and struck a field entrance.

The 2001 Subaru Legacy was launched into the air, overturned and struck a fence.

Barnes was taken to Capital Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Troopers say he was arrested on suspicion of DWI, driving without insurance, reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt before being released for medical treatment.

No other cars or people were involved in the incident.
